Heading off to Melbourne in Aug 2018 with Lil K in tow. My 2nd trip mum-son trip and Lil K has been patiently (well.. sorta) waited for nearly a year before he gets his turn for this special trip.

So, why did I decided to do 2 mum-son solo trips instead of bringing both on a single trip? Well, I need and wanted to spend more time with each kiddo, doing special things and (hopefully) creating special memories in years to come. Had my friend not done his with his gal in 2017, I would still be sitting on this plan and probably end up beating myself for not doing it.

Another reason for the solo mum-son trip is making this trip a pre-pri trip of their lifetime (actually it's because it's their last year in K2 to be able to travel anytime).

Yes, I will be doing the same set of activities with both kids, in fact we are staying at the same hotel (cos it's super convenient for us to Fed Sq to board the day tour buses). The only diff is this year, we will be gone for 10 days instead of 8 last year. Looking back, 8 days in Melb last year was indeed quite tiring and packed, leaving me very little time to catch up with friends and Big K had little time to chill and chill and just chill. So, learnt from experience, 10 days this time and now I have problems finding stuff to do. Oh well, will just chill and hang out anywhere and everywhere on days with no day tours and just take a moment to smell the air. Who knows when I will get to return to Melb again after this trip!

Some friends were surprised that I was brave enough to bring both on 2 separate trips. Well, if my friend could do that with his daughter, why can't I since I am already so familiar with Melb. So, big thanks to my friend for the big push.. and I am so grateful for the precious moments I had with Big K last year, and definitely looking forward to the moments with Lil K (who will probably be driving me up the wall umpteen times).

So.... with many many more months to Aug, I can only stare at my calendar and wish the days will zap fast till 8 Aug 2018.

2018 came and went with some fun fare and huddles for learning and memories. 2019 started fast and furious because I now have 2 school-going kids! Today is Day 2 of school and it was rush rush rush. Wonder how long it's gonna take to get into routine. Big K eased into Pri 2 easily as expected. But that doesn't mean this lad doesn't have his own struggles and insecurities. Pri 1 has been a great learning journey for him and he has grown so much, despite his tyrant behaviour on most days. How I wish I have octupos arms and hug this boy tight and hard and assure we can walk through the journey together confidently. I have to work harder at this, definitely. Lil K... Well he too eased into Pri 1 easily and confidently (such a surprise cos I hadn't had time to prep him well for this big new journey of his). Experienced my first-ever March Holidays

Experiencing my first march holidays as a mum was an interesting experience. Interesting because I had embraced it as well as dread it. With 2 boys in tow, and with #2 constantly comparing with his brother, I had decided to let #2 take a 2-day break from childcare and join his brother at a 2-day Arts Camp with Artify Studio (their reg Sat art school). And so, the one-week holiday schedule for #1 went like this: Mon: Chill at home Tues: 2-hour Travel Light workshop at The Therapy Room (mainly to have him meet new friends and sorta throw him into a new environment all by himself) Wed & Thurs: 2-day Art Camp + visit ilight@Marina Bay Fri - Sun: Chill at home and get ready to return to school While it seemed rather harmless and bearable, it was tiring for me. While #1 was at the 2-hour workshop on Tues, the poor mum had to wander around Orchard Road to will my time, yet trying my hardest to control and not make impulse buys.... Definitely drank more coffee than I should...

Black vs White Muffins (Double Choc vs Oreo)

Baked a batch of Double Choc and Oreo Muffins for Big K's class picnic (19 Oct 17). Hadn't baked so many muffins in a day; it is tiring. While it's tiring, it is heartening to see the big bright happy face as well as reviews from colleauges.  Am not a great baker, I can only manage a few simple recipes and bakes such as chiffon cakes, sponge cakes, muffins and super limited cookies. So long as the 'customers' (aka kids, family, friends, colleagues) enjoy my bakes, I am happy. ☆modernmumbaker☆
