The day my son went 'missing'....

Image
Every parents' fear is when they are told their kid has gone missing. This was exactly what I experienced last Fri 20 July when I received a frantic call from my kid's form teacher. In a nervous yet trying to be calm tone, I was told that my son apparently went home on his own. For a split second, I felt numb and time stood still. How is that possible? And I did not receive any call from home. I told his teacher I will check and get back to her soon.  Ten thousand thoughts ran through my mind as I was dialing home. I kept reminding myself to stay calm, it is just a false alarm. How could my son go home on his own when his grandpa was supposed to pick him up? There must be a miscommunication somewhere. Ring Ring.... went the phone. It took many bloody rings before the phone was answered. So, in as calm a voice as I can attempt to be, I started asking and guess what, I was dismissed and given haphazard answers by my mum. Oh well.... something is definitely not right. Never mind...
